Past or Future?

In church we have been talking about greater things. Greater things are to come. We do not need to think about the past because it isn’t important. I have found it hard to focus on the future. I have noticed how much I actually look at my past and dwell on it and wish I could be different or wish I would have done things different, but God forgives and forgets. Therefore, we need to move on if we want to get into the things God has in store for us. We have to have our feet faced forward and our hands open to Him. If we are stuck in the past we can’t do what God wants us to do.

Isaiah 43:18-19 says, “But forget all that – it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” – God does have a plan even in the mucky times.

Yes we have all been hurt, wounded, or have some amazing memories, but we can’t just focus on all of that. It is like driving in your car and looking out the rear view mirror...When you drive do you look out the front windshield or do you look in the rearview mirror? If you looked in the rear view mirror what would happen…obviously you would crash or get stuck trying to fix what you did while God is way more concerned/interesting in your future than he is in your past. If you’re not careful you can get stuck watching re-runs of your life and miss the best days of your life.

Your right posture is hands open and feet forward looking to the bright future ahead! It is hard but I am working on it to. I’s at least worth thinking about… Are you stuck in the past?
